Is it allowed to use the API in standalone apps (that users
download and run from their hard-drive)?
I can't see a way to do that and comply with the terms-of-use
stipulation that says "keep the API key confidential". Would
obfuscating/encrypting the API key in the binary be sufficient?
I think this would rule out writing the app in an interpreted
language like perl or ruby.

Pardon our delayed response.
You are welcome to use the JamBase API in a stand-alone App, so long as the APIKEY is obscured.
Please let us know when your app is completed so we can feature it!
